In order to achieve the best results in monitoring this policy, Senior Management has opted for the implementation of a Quality, Environment and Health and Safety Management System based on the reference standards UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015, UNE-EN ISO 14001:2015 and UNE EN ISO 45001.

About us

Abenójar Tungsten is a company led by the García San Miguel family, a fourth-generation Spanish mining family with a deep mining tradition in Spain that has funded the El Moto tungsten mine since acquiring the licence in 2012.

The García San Miguel family has worked on over 20 mining projects across Spain and South America and has developed a long track record of successfully building, operating and rehabilitating mining projects creating value for all stakeholders. We understand the importance of mining for the local economy, continuing that mission today with a modern and responsible approach.

Our commitment to excellence and sustainability has led us to develop the El Moto tungsten mine, one of the most promising tungsten projects in Europe.

At El Moto, we have a highly qualified team of professionals specialized in geology, engineering mining, and the environment.

Gonzalo García San Miguel (CEO)

Mining Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

MBA from IESE.

Chairman of PMC, S.A. since 2009, a company dedicated to the development and operation of mining projects.

Mr Garcia San Miguel has lead the development and operation of numerous mining projects including magnesite mines (Magnesitas de Rubián, SA in operation), calcium carbonate (Micronizados Naturales, SA) and coal mines (San Antonio) amongst others.

He also leads a circular economy tyre recycling initiative through pyrolysis (Greenval Technologies, S.L.).

Sergio Arenas (COO)

A seasoned mining operations specialist with over 22 years of international experience across the mining value chain, with a focus on gold, copper, zinc, uranium, iron, and tungsten projects. Proven track record of successful construction and operation of mines in Spain with demonstrable technical and engineering credentials.

Francisco Bellón (Technical Advisor)

MsC, MAusIMM

Mining Engineer with more than 28 years of experience in the mining industry.

Master in Occupational Health and Safety, Certified in Investor Relations by the Madrid Stock Exchange, and Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).

Participation in the construction, start-up and production of 4 reference mines in Spain, 2 in South America and 2 in Mauritania; occupying management positions in listed companies in Toronto, New York and Madrid.

Teresa San Millán (Supply)

Graduate in Business Sciences. Faculty of Economics and Business, Sarriko – University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).

Procurement Manager with more than 20 years of national and international professional experience in the engineering and industrial project management business.

Extensive experience in Management and Development of Procurement Strategies (Purchasing, Expediting, Inspection/Quality and Logistics) in Turnkey Projects (EPC and EPCM).

Belén Torres Cueva (Geology)

Head of the Geology Department at the “El Moto” mine (Abenojar Tugnsten SA). Geologist from the University of Barcelona – MSc Geology and Environmental Management of Mineral Resources from the University of Huelva – PhD Industrial.

Specialist in tin and tungsten deposits.

10 years of experience in the mining industry in the exploration and research sector. Development of different Au, Cu, Sn and W projects in Spain and Portugal.

Exploration geologist, grade control and metallurgy at the “La Parrilla” mine (Badajoz – Spain) – 9 years -, among other mining projects.

Antonio Cueva (Project)

Degree in Mining Technology Engineering – Specialty in Mining Polytechnic University of Madrid. Master in Mining Engineering EIMIA – University of Castilla – La Mancha.

The Directorate of the El Moto Abenojar Tungsten SA Mine, carrying out monitoring activities of the Faculty Directorate, environmental monitoring and follow-up since 2023.

Eiffage Infraestructuras Mines Specialist, being Head of Production of four quarries and performing tasks related to Technical Management, for one year.

María Rosa Simón (Administration)

Graduate in Business Administration. Complutense University of Madrid.

Head of Administration at ABENÓJAR TUNGSTEN since June 2023, monitoring compliance with administrative management. Promoter of the development of the “El Moto” mine.

Business manager with extensive experience of more than twenty-five years in the development and implementation of economic and financial projects in both the public and private sectors. Sustainable strategic planning and management of innovative projects, assessing the needs of depressed rural areas.
