The Tungsten Mine EL MOTO

The El Moto mine, located in Ciudad Real, Spain, is one of largest and highest grade tungsten deposits globally.

This unique high grade tungsten and gold mine was granted a mining concession in 2015, and commenced construction of the underground operation in 2026 with first production on track for 2028.

The deposit is host to a NI 43-101 Resource of 91Mt at 0.42 WO3 and is located close to the surface, benefiting from a low C1 cost. El Moto not only houses a key mineral for energy, technology and defence but, once operational, will aim to have the capacity to cover up to 25% of Europe’s tungsten demand, consolidating its position as a key pillar in Europe’s security and future prosperity.

On March 25, 2025, the European Commission declared El Moto among 47 strategic projects to guarantee the supply of critical raw materials essential to the continent’s industry and technology.

WHERE WE ARE

Located in the province of Ciudad Real in central Spain, the El Moto mine is one of the most important tungsten deposits in Europe.

Members of the Company’s group and the García San Miguel family have been actively progressing the development of El Moto since 2012, but the García San Miguel family’s presence and activity in the region dates back to 1967. In the region, the García San Miguel family has successfully owned, constructed, operated, and subsequently rehabilitated multiple mines, including the San Antonio coal mine and the La Extranjera mine. Beyond, the Company’s management team have been involved at all stages of the mine life cycle across Spain and South America.

Today, El Moto benefits from strong local and national support. Once in operation, El Moto will generate over 300 direct and over 500 indirect jobs, supporting the region’s active push to increase employment levels and address the rural depopulation.

As El Moto starts production in 2028 it will ramp up to aim to produce the equivalent of 25% of current European tungsten demand.

ABOUT TUNGSTEN

Tungsten is a critical metal recognised for having the highest melting point in nature and a density equivalent to gold. Included in the EU list of Critical and Strategic Raw Materials, this metal is vital for numerous industries, from the manufacture of tools and electronic components to military and aerospace applications.

Its global demand continues to grow, standing out for its importance in renewable energies, the digital transition and defence applications.
